Guide to The Lil Flea 2018 : the best of shopping, food and music – The Urban Vibe
One of India’s and of course Mumbai’s favorite weekend makers, The Lil Flea are all geared up to host their 4th anniversary edition at JioGarden, BKC this April with 2 consecutive weekends. In case you haven’t been yet? or else if you’re hearing about it for the first time…So went there and checked it all out for you, and we have an insider guide which a help you make the most of it!
There’s food, there’s music. There’s shopping. And, some boring repetitive stuff too. This edition calls for some really bigger, prettier, happier times with lots of promising experiences and newbies. Look out for great stuff to do for no matter what kind of person you are – there’s literally something for everyone and all age groups.
1.Festival of Shopping:
If you love shopping or like exploring on stuff thats buzzing in the market, then The Lil Flea has to be on your bucket list. 300 stalls which we found monotonous, and not so well curated we would say! But its fun to choose, compare and buy. So if you have lots of time. Be wise.A couple of homegrown brands from across the country on each weekend are selling contemporary apparel, shoes, printed T- shirts, home décor, quirky printed shoes, bags, jewelry, digital pop art and heaps of cool things to keep the shopper in you spoilt for choice but at the same time save yourself with the extra dent in your wallet.
2. Festival of Experimental & Fusion Foods:
As we all know The Lil flea has been a great place to discover amazing upcoming food chefs, home bakers, and new marketers entering the market. So this year as its gotten bigger and better and it’s called Lil Food café. Thus, you’ll find new food brands, restaurants taking up stalls to market them, a lot of breweries like Drifters and Kimaya and also some old well positioned city favorites (like Woodside Inn, Pack-a-pav. Goila and Punjab da chulah ). At this edition they have more 60 food brands but 30 handpicked stalls doing some really – really good food.
Check out: Woodside for great burgers; Brownsalt Bakery for super bowls ; Fusion, Mexican Express and BRGRHQ for vegetarian fare; Baked with love by Annie, Coppetto and Your Sugar Story for desserts; Hoppium; The Big Spread; and unquestionably Pack-a-pav; because it never lets down!
Don’t: We hated PitaBurg and Coma Coma (waste of money and time).
Newbies: The J started a new sandwich brand called Melt, The Salad Bar, The Bombay Churros, The Stick House, Kepchki Momos, Coma Coma, Kaavo, and Taco Lab.
3. Festival of Indie Music:
Catch a live gig, they had it on all the evenings at The Lil Flea! There’s an amazing lineup of some of the coolest indie bands to keep you grooving on all days while you shop, hop, binge or drink.
4. Movies under the stars:
From classics to cult films, they’re screening all-time favorites you’ve been waiting to watch (or perhaps, even re-watch) every night from 10pm onwards. So, why be a couch potato when you can have a mad time at The Lil Flea…under the stars? Take your friends, make it a date, get you your fam-jam or just go solo with your happy own vibe. Pre-register for these sessions if you are wise, as the numbers of headphones are limited.
5. Festival Bar:
If the weekend calls for a drink or two, make sure you drop by to The Lil Flea’s Festival bar. Trust us this was amazing if you love great cocktails, sip on some crisp beer or just hang onto the chilled vibes with a drink.There’s 7 micro-breweries including the likes of Brewbot, White Owl, Independence Brewing Co, Plus wines from Sula (INR 200 per glass) , Some fun cocktails plus sangrias, alcohol golas and slushies from The Cool Story. Enough to keep you buzzing! Not Kidding
6.Awesome Carnival games & Board Games:
Allow the kid in you to surface and jump on the trampoline, play the giant Jenga, do a little hula hoop, throw some dart, ring some rings or just cheer your friends as they try their hands at the heady assortment of carnival games that take you back a few years. For the board game lovers, borrow some board games from the board games booth! We heard there’s Catan too. Enough said.
7. One Lil Tree:
Join this small but amazing movement to help improve the way we live and the air we breathe. Collect your free seeds to plant in your home, adopt a plant or learn the art of organic gardening.
The Lil Flea loves discovering new, upcoming and edgy artists who have something to say in a way that we all ‘wow’ over. There’s live art for a cause, there’s art on display by some cool up & coming artists and there’s also collaborative art. Join them to further the art scenes in our beautiful city.
9. Happy Vibes
And of course, there’s always the happy in the air vibes when you visit The Lil Flea. Happy sellers, happy visitors, fun sit outs, beautiful bohemian décor all come together at this festival to make it one weekend to remember.

Why you should go :
They are bringing out some collective energy of exciting ideas under one roof in open. If your looking out for fashion merchandise for men and women, home decor, skincare, and other lifestyle products by Indian-based labels and brands then this place is where you should be this weekend! Look for a lot of designers (some doing the same-same stuff too) and a few specially curated labels, come together to create a unique shopping experience for you- this is a space to pick up some of the most impressive collections right from the designers and get to know makers themselves.
