Yes its True : Goa’s legendary eatery Thalassa to Open In Mumbai.
After several trial and error, Goa’s legendary eatery Thalassa will open in Mumbai this September
Perched on a hilltop with the resplendent seascape serving as the backdrop, overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean and picturesque small Vagator beach, Thalassa is known to merge the greatness of Greek hospitality with Goan joie de vivre. As the design and the ambience of Thalassa transports you back to Greece instantly with its white decor, terrazzo flooring, rustic wooden shelters and cane furniture. How can we forget the weekend sun-downers we’ve had with lilting music that picks up tempo as the sun sets, along with the heady cocktails and the sumptuous spread, all add to an irreplaceable feeling that one has come to expect of Thalassa.
The sumptuous and quintessential Greek food at Thalassa is a big draw. From its mouthwatering barbeques and sea food to the typical greek Souvlaki wrapped in homemade pitta, which in Greek cuisine refers to thicker breads made with yeast, Mousaka which is a classic Greek recipe made from eggplant that is stuffed with meat, Pastitsio or macaronia tou fournou is a Greek or generally Middle Eastern baked pasta dish, Greek salads and the special Corfu dishes, Mariketty’s Thalassa is every gourmand’s delight.
Coming to Mumbai
The popular Greek restaurant Thalassa which is considered an essential weekend stopover in Vagator, Goa, by any food-loving tourists is reportedly opening a second outlet in Mumbai in the next two to three months.
We hear that Goa’s most popular restaurant – @thalassagoa is coming to Mumbai in September! According to our sources, the restaurant will launch midweek September in the Bandra-Khar area! We can’t wait for this – Can you?
Walk the entire length of Carter Road and at the end, where Khar begins, your shoes might soon start to fill with sand. Currently under construction, here is a new outpost of Goa’s wildly popular Greek restaurant, Thalassa.
Inspite of many beaches like Aksa beach, silver beach in Mudh Island area which are away from crowded beached like Juhu and Chowpatty . We still dont have good cafes, bars or restaurants around the city! Sadly Thalassa Mumbai will be coming up at a Hotel property in Khar rather than by the beach.
Yes we’re still having a little trouble on that! Remember the Thalassa pop-up at Olive Mahalaxmi in 2013? They obviously did a better job with the location and the menu. We hope this one doesn’t really disappoint.
What we think
Are you guys excited to welcome them back to Bombay? Or still prefer the Goan vibes by the beach? We’re not really sure about this feeling but definitely not happy to see the location they have picked; one Hotel Shubhangan’s ground floor space in Khar Danda. We hope they have plans on keeping their shutters up till 3.00 – 4.00 am or so.
Until recently, this space belonged to Yellow, an all-day bar by ex Mezzo Mezzo chef Davide Cananzi and restaurateur Ramona Narang, which shut as quietly as it opened.
But with Thalassa’s legendary food, vibes and owner Mariketty’s warm hugs, we’re sure the odd suites upstairs and location will hardly matter.
Getting there: Ground floor, Hotel Shubhangan, 21st Road, Khar Danda, Khar (W), opens at the end of September.
Opening Date – Mid September, 2016.
